The Extreme Sensor for the Ultimate Image Quality
Fujifilm's Super CCD EXR is a revolutionary new "3 in 1" sensor which combines High Resolution, High Sensitivity and Wide Dynamic Range in a single device. Until now it has been impossible to optimise a compact camera for both high resolution and high sensitivity; it was one or the other. However, Super CCD EXR excels at this seemingly impossible task.

Inspired by the ability of the Human eye to adapt to the light available to it, Fujifilm has designed the EXR sensor to emulate how our eyes work. EXR's unique pixel layout and advanced processing system allow the sensor to switch modes dependent on the subject matter and lighting conditions. This guarantees breathtaking image quality with every shot you take.

Dynamic Range Priority
If you have ever seen a pale blue sky turn white in a photograph then you have experienced one of the biggest problems facing all compact digital cameras: limited dynamic range.
Super CCD EXR uses Dual Capture Technology to simultaneously capture two images of the same scene: one taken at high sensitivity and the other at low sensitivity. It then merges the two images to generate a photo with increased (up to 800% higher) Dynamic Range. This broadened tonal capability minimises dipping and guarantees exceptional rendition of photos with both bright highlights and dark shadows.

Signal to Noise Priority
Boosting sensitivity on conventional sensors has always resulted in increased noise, and efforts to control this noise have meant blurred images and loss of resolution when shooting in low light
However, it is possible to capture a low noise image using a process known as pixel binning: combining the signal from two or more adjacent pixels. Unfortunately the conventional approach to binning produces images with false colours (due to the large gaps between the pixels of the same colour). Removing these false colours results in blurred images with very low resolution.

EXR's unique colour filter arrangement means that two side-by-side, same colours pixels are taken together as a single pixel: this Pixel Fusion Technology prevents the generation of false colours caused by conventional pixel binning.

High Resolution Priority
When you want to achieve the maximum detail possible, and the subject doesn't demand the extra dynamic range provided by Dual Capture Technology or the class leading Signal to Noise performance of Pixel Fusion Technology, Super CCD EXR can be used in HR mode to capture full twelve megapixel images with breathtaking levels of fine detail.
Manual controls or EXR Auto - your choice
If you require total sensor control, the FinePix F200EXR gives you the ability to manually switch the sensor to one of the three capture modes. However, if you would prefer for us to do it for you, then just select EXR Auto & the camera will switch to the optimum settings for the scene being photographed.
Perfect Pictures - Automatically
Whatever the subject, whatever the conditions, EXR Auto mode ensures every single aspect of the camera is optimised to produce stunning image quality, shot after shot, after shot.
A uniquely advanced program mode, EXR Auto not only calculates the optimal exposure; white balance; focal distance; ISO setting & resolution, but also selects the EXR sensor mode best suited to the scene being photographed. We like making it easy for you to take good pictures!
